Affiliate Disclosure

Effective Date: 31/05/2026 |  Last Updated: 31/05/2026

Transparency is foundational to how we operate supplementph.com. This Affiliate Disclosure page explains the financial relationships behind our editorial content – specifically, how we earn income from affiliate partnerships and how we ensure these relationships do not compromise our editorial integrity.

We believe Filipino consumers deserve to know exactly how the websites they read for product advice are funded. This page provides that information in plain language, going beyond minimum regulatory requirements to give you a complete picture of our affiliate relationships.

Plain-language summary: supplementph.com participates in the iHerb Affiliate Program. We earn a small commission when you click links to iHerb on our site and make a purchase. This commission is paid by iHerb, NOT added to your purchase price. Your shopping experience and what you pay are identical whether you arrive at iHerb through our link or directly. We maintain editorial independence and recommend products based on research, not commission rates.

1. What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based arrangement where a publisher (in our case, supplementph.com) promotes products or services and earns a commission when readers make purchases through specially-tagged links. The merchant pays the commission from its own margin – the consumer pays exactly the same price as if they had arrived at the merchant directly.

Affiliate marketing has become a primary funding model for independent editorial publications, including respected publications like Wirecutter (owned by The New York Times), CNET, Healthline, and many others. The model allows publications to provide free content to readers while remaining financially sustainable.

What distinguishes ethical affiliate publishing from low-quality ‘affiliate spam’ is the strict separation between editorial decisions and commission considerations – which we explain in detail below.

2. Our Specific Affiliate Relationships

2.1 iHerb Affiliate Program

supplementph.com participates in the iHerb Affiliate Program. iHerb, Inc. is a US-based online retailer of vitamins, supplements, K-beauty, and natural products. iHerb’s official site is ph.iherb.com for Philippine customers.

Our participation is through Involve Asia, iHerb’s affiliate network partner serving the Southeast Asian region. When you click an affiliate link on our site, the tracking and commission infrastructure runs through Involve Asia’s systems.

2.2 Future affiliate partnerships

We may add other affiliate partnerships in the future. Any such partnerships will be disclosed here promptly and added to relevant articles. Currently, we only participate in the iHerb program. Potential future partnerships under consideration include:

  • Other supplement retailers shipping to the Philippines
  • Korean beauty marketplaces beyond iHerb
  • Health and wellness service providers relevant to Filipino consumers
  • Educational platforms covering nutrition and skincare topics

If we add new affiliate relationships, we will update this disclosure page within 7 days and label affected articles accordingly.

2.3 What we are NOT

We want to be explicit about relationships we do NOT have:

  • We are NOT an authorized iHerb reseller – we do not sell iHerb products
  • We are NOT owned by or financially connected to iHerb, Inc. beyond the affiliate publisher arrangement
  • We are NOT a sponsored content publisher – we do not accept payment for editorial coverage
  • We are NOT a multi-level marketing (MLM) site – we do not recruit downstream sellers
  • We do NOT operate dropshipping, drop-ship, or ‘group buy’ services

3. How We Earn Commission

3.1 The basic transaction

When everything works correctly, here is what happens:

  1. You read an article on supplementph.com that mentions an iHerb product
  2. You click an affiliate link in the article (typically a /go/[product-name] link or ‘Buy on iHerb’ button)
  3. Your browser is redirected through Involve Asia’s tracking infrastructure to iHerb’s product page
  4. A tracking cookie is set in your browser identifying supplementph.com as the referring source
  5. If you complete a purchase within the cookie’s attribution window (typically 30 days), iHerb attributes the sale to our site
  6. iHerb pays a commission – a percentage of your purchase value – to supplementph.com via Involve Asia
  7. Commissions are typically paid monthly after a verification period (60-90 days from purchase)

3.2 What we earn

iHerb commission rates vary by product category and time period. Typical rates fall in the range of 3-10 percent of purchase value, with higher rates for new customer acquisition and lower rates for repeat customers and certain product categories. The exact rate is not visible to us at the moment of purchase – we receive aggregated commission reports periodically.

For a typical iHerb purchase of PHP 3,500 (about USD 60), our commission might range from PHP 100-350 depending on the rate applied. Most of this funds the time we spend researching products, writing articles, maintaining the website infrastructure, and responding to reader emails.

3.3 What you pay

You pay exactly the same price as if you had visited iHerb directly. iHerb’s pricing is the same for all customers regardless of how they arrived at the site. There is no surcharge, no hidden fee, and no price increase associated with using our affiliate links.

4. How Affiliate Links Work on supplementph.com

4.1 Pretty Links / branded redirects

Most affiliate links on supplementph.com use ‘pretty link’ redirects that make URLs cleaner and easier to remember. For example, a link to CosRx’s Snail 96 essence might appear as:

supplementph.com/go/cosrx-snail-96

When you click this URL, our server immediately redirects you to the full iHerb product URL with our affiliate tracking parameters appended. The intermediate redirect is invisible to you – you see the iHerb page open as if you had clicked a direct link.

4.2 Direct iHerb URLs

Some articles include direct iHerb URLs (like ph.iherb.com/pr/…) with affiliate tracking parameters appended (typically ‘?rcode=’ followed by our referral code). These work identically to pretty links but show the iHerb URL directly.

4.3 Welcome discount code

Articles often reference a specific welcome discount code (for example, ABC1234 – your actual code from Involve Asia). This code provides you with a discount at iHerb checkout AND identifies supplementph.com as the referring source, allowing us to earn commission. Using this code is completely optional – you receive the welcome discount whether you click affiliate links or enter the code manually at checkout.

5. How to Identify Affiliate Links

We label our affiliate links clearly so you can make informed clicking decisions:

  • Every article containing affiliate links includes a disclosure notice near the top
  • Affiliate link URLs typically start with ‘supplementph.com/go/’ or contain ‘iherb.com’ destination
  • Buy buttons labeled ‘Buy on iHerb,’ ‘View on iHerb,’ or ‘Shop on iHerb’ are affiliate links
  • Promo code mentions [YOUR-AFFILIATE-CODE] in articles are affiliate-linked
  • Some browsers show the destination URL in the status bar when you hover over a link – hover to verify before clicking

What are NOT affiliate links

  • Internal links to other supplementph.com articles (these earn us nothing)
  • Reference links to external sources (Healthline, PubMed studies, government websites)
  • Links to iHerb’s official customer service, help pages, or shipping policy pages
  • Links in our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, or Cookie Policy

6. No Additional Cost to You

This is the most important fact to understand about our affiliate relationship: using our links does NOT cost you anything extra.

Why this is true

iHerb’s commission to affiliate publishers comes from iHerb’s marketing budget – the funds iHerb would otherwise spend on advertising, search engine marketing, or other customer acquisition channels. iHerb has determined that paying publishers for verified customer referrals is more cost-effective than other acquisition methods.

iHerb does NOT increase product prices for affiliate-referred customers. The pricing you see at ph.iherb.com is identical whether you arrived through our link, through a Google ad, through iHerb’s own newsletter, or by typing iherb.com directly into your browser.

Why this matters to readers

Some readers feel uncertain about using affiliate links because they wonder if they’re being manipulated into paying more. With iHerb (and most legitimate affiliate programs), this is not the case. You can use our affiliate links with confidence that your purchase price reflects iHerb’s standard pricing.

Conversely, if you prefer not to support supplementph.com financially, you can visit ph.iherb.com directly and your shopping experience will be identical – we simply won’t earn commission from your purchase.

7. Editorial Independence Statement

supplementph.com maintains strict editorial independence from our affiliate revenue. This means:

  • Our content team does not receive commission rate information when planning articles
  • Product recommendations are based on research, customer review analysis, and editorial judgment
  • We do not accept payment, gifts, free products, or other compensation in exchange for positive coverage
  • We frequently recommend products with lower commission rates when they represent better value
  • We recommend AGAINST purchasing certain products when our analysis indicates they aren’t worth buying
  • We have not (as of the date of this disclosure) ever accepted sponsored content or paid product placement

Real-world examples

Concrete examples of how this plays out:

  • We recommend iHerb house brands (California Gold Nutrition, Lake Avenue Nutrition) frequently because they offer best value to Filipino consumers, even though these brands typically generate lower commission than premium-positioned brands
  • We maintain a ‘Products to Avoid’ section in our pillar guides that names categories we recommend Filipino consumers skip, regardless of potential commission
  • We honestly disclose when products are not suitable for specific consumer profiles – vegetarians, pregnant women, those with allergies – even when this loses us potential sales

Sponsored content policy

If we ever publish sponsored content in the future (we have not as of this version of the disclosure), it will be:

  • Clearly labeled ‘Sponsored,’ ‘Paid Partnership,’ or similar disclosure at the top of the article
  • Visually distinct from our editorial content
  • Disclosed in this Affiliate Disclosure page
  • Subject to the same fact-checking standards as editorial content

8. Our Editorial Standards

Our editorial process is designed to ensure that our recommendations remain trustworthy regardless of commission considerations. Key elements:

  • Category research: for each product category, we analyze 15-25 candidates before narrowing to recommendations
  • Customer review pattern analysis: we sample 50-100 most-recent customer reviews to identify consistent feedback patterns
  • Third-party testing prioritization: products with NSF, USP, Informed Sport certifications receive priority
  • Filipino market relevance: we evaluate products specifically for tropical climate suitability, Filipino skin/health profiles, and PHP pricing
  • Editorial review: at least one team member reviews each recommendation against documented criteria
  • Update cadence: recommendations are reviewed quarterly and refreshed every six months
  • Reader feedback integration: corrections from readers are incorporated within 7 days

Full editorial standards documentation is available in our About page at supplementph.com/about/.

9. Why We Recommend Specific Products

When we recommend a specific product, it’s because our analysis indicates:

  • The product fills a genuine need for Filipino consumers
  • Ingredient quality and formulation are competitive in the category
  • Pricing represents reasonable value compared to alternatives
  • Customer reviews show consistent positive outcomes
  • Third-party testing or certification supports quality claims (where applicable)
  • The product is reliably available on ph.iherb.com for Philippine delivery
  • No safety concerns have been raised by regulatory authorities

Commission rate is NOT one of the criteria. We have explicitly excluded commission rate from our evaluation rubric to prevent it from biasing our editorial decisions.

10. Products We Decline to Recommend

Our ‘Products to Avoid’ guidance is one of the clearest demonstrations of editorial independence. We decline to recommend categories of products where our analysis indicates the product is unlikely to benefit consumers, even though we would earn commission if readers purchased them.

Categories we generally decline to recommend

  • Ultra-high-dose multivitamins (1,000 percent+ daily value on most nutrients)
  • Proprietary blends without disclosed individual ingredient dosing
  • Detox teas, cleanses, and ‘fat burner’ supplements
  • DHEA, testosterone boosters, and hormone-modulating supplements (without medical supervision)
  • Generic colloidal silver (lacks scientific support and may cause harm)
  • Weight loss patches and ‘ear seeds’ (pseudoscience)

We maintain these positions even when readers ask us to review specific products in these categories. Our editorial standards prevent us from endorsing products we believe consumers would be better off skipping.

11. Regulatory Compliance

11.1 FTC compliance (US standards)

Although supplementph.com primarily serves Filipino consumers, we follow the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Endorsement Guides as a baseline for affiliate disclosure best practices. The FTC Guides require clear, conspicuous disclosure of material connections between advertisers and endorsers. This includes:

  • Clear disclosure of the affiliate relationship in plain language
  • Disclosure placed where readers will notice it (top of articles, dedicated page)
  • Disclosure repeated regularly throughout content where affiliate links appear
  • Disclosure in language readers can understand without technical jargon

11.2 Philippine consumer protection

Under Philippine consumer protection law (Consumer Act of the Philippines, Republic Act No. 7394), we maintain truthful and non-deceptive practices in our editorial content. Our affiliate relationship does not affect the truthfulness of product information or our editorial conclusions.

11.3 iHerb Affiliate Program terms

We comply with iHerb’s Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions, which require disclosure of the affiliate relationship. Our disclosure practices meet or exceed iHerb’s requirements.

11.4 GDPR considerations

For European Union visitors, our affiliate tracking is subject to EU GDPR cookie consent requirements. EU visitors who decline marketing cookies do not have affiliate tracking applied to their visits, and we do not earn commission from their purchases. See our Cookie Policy for details.

12. Other Sources of Site Funding

Currently, affiliate commission is supplementph.com’s primary source of revenue. We do not currently:

  • Display banner or display advertising
  • Accept paid sponsorships or sponsored content
  • Sell email lists or reader data to advertisers
  • Operate a paywall, premium subscription, or membership program
  • Sell our own products through the site
  • Accept donations or ‘tip jar’ contributions

If we adopt additional revenue sources in the future, we will update this disclosure and notify readers prominently.

13. Our Commitment to Transparency

Beyond regulatory requirements, we have made the following voluntary transparency commitments:

  • Every article containing affiliate links includes a disclosure callout near the top
  • Our About page explains our editorial team structure and standards
  • Our ‘Products to Avoid’ guidance is maintained regardless of commission impact
  • Reader corrections are integrated within 7 days and credited where applicable
  • We have publicly documented our editorial process
  • We respond to reader questions about our recommendations through [CONTACT-EMAIL]
  • We will publicly correct errors when discovered, including affiliate-related errors

14. Questions About Our Recommendations

If you have questions about why we recommended a specific product, whether commission considerations influenced a recommendation, or any other transparency-related concern, please contact us at [CONTACT-EMAIL]. We will respond honestly within 30 days.

Specific things we are happy to address:

  • Why we recommended Product A over Product B in a roundup
  • Whether a specific brand has a sponsorship or paid relationship with us (none do)
  • Why we did NOT include a product you expected to see
  • How our editorial process applies to specific articles
  • Concerns that our recommendation seems biased

We take reader questions seriously. If our process or recommendation has been compromised, we want to know so we can correct it.

15. Changes to This Disclosure

We may update this Affiliate Disclosure when:

  • We add or remove affiliate program relationships
  • Regulatory requirements change (FTC, Philippine NPC, etc.)
  • iHerb’s Affiliate Program terms change in ways affecting our practices
  • We add new revenue sources (sponsored content, advertising, etc.)
  • We clarify or expand transparency practices
